What is the plot of Saw X? ›

Hoping for a miraculous cure, John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure, only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer uses deranged and ingenious traps to turn the tables on the con artists.

Saw X / Film synopsis

This film isn't as bad as some of the others at this, but it's there. Overall, if you're a diehard Saw fan there's no reason not to see this if you haven't already. I'm going to buy it on Blu-ray when it comes out for the collection. But if you've never been a fan of the franchise this probably won't change your mind.

Saw X was theatrically released by Lionsgate Films on September 29, 2023. It grossed $111 million worldwide and received generally positive reviews from critics, making it the best-reviewed Saw film. A sequel, Saw XI, is scheduled for release on September 26, 2025.

Yesterday, Lionsgate unveiled a poster for the new Saw movie – which happens to be the tenth installment in the franchise, so it's following in the footsteps of Jason X and Fast X to go by the title Saw X. Now they have released an image from the film that confirms Billy the puppet is going to be featured in the film!

In the end, Cecilia kills her partner, just as Amanda Young predicted, and saves herself. Saw X shows that she manages to survive the test, and although the timer counts down to zero and the poisonous gas rescinds, Cecilia is left inside the locked room.

In a twist ending, it is revealed that Amanda is working with John, seeing him as a father figure and working as his apprentice. Amanda claims that the test she experienced in the first film ultimately saved her life, and this is what caused her to join him.

Rated R for sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, language and some drug use.

According to the Saw producers, Saw X takes place takes place just weeks after the original movie and before the events of Saw II. The film goes into the details of John Kramer attempting to cure his cancer. If you don't want to be spoiled about the details you'll just have to watch it yourself.

But audience members who stick around for the movie's post-credits scene will be rewarded with the appearance of another Saw franchise villain, Costas Mandylor's twisted cop Mark Hoffman, who we see helping Jigsaw torture another of the con artists, Michael Beach's Henry.

Is Saw X gruesome? ›

“Saw X” was never really scary, but the relentless gore was certainly horrific in its own terrible way. In the interstices of each violent challenge, Kramer and his sidekick Amanda Young, a reformed drug addict whom Kramer “saves” in the original Saw film, argue about whether their ambitions are just.

They free Carlos from the other end of the trap, and he is even given the bag of cash that Cecilia had as a reward for surviving the event. This allows all three of them to leave the warehouse safely and alive, as Cecilia is left locked in the room with no means of escape.

Saw X is a much-needed return to form for the franchise, combining its trademark gore with surprising character depth. Fresh score. It may have taken nine films to get there, but Saw X finally figures out that playing to its strengths and getting in on the joke is the best way out of its own trap.

John Kramer's return in Saw X was more successful than it would have been in Spiral due to the film's fresh take on the character.

Cecilia ends up killing Parker and survives the gas by sticking her head out the air hole. But there is seemingly still no way for her to escape as John, Amanda, and Carlos leave the warehouse together. John also gives Carlos the bag of defrauded money to keep in a gesture of good will for braving the trap.

Spy × Family (stylized as SPY×FAMILY and pronounced "spy family") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo. The story follows a spy who has to "build a family" to execute a mission, not realizing that his adopted daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to marry is a skilled assassin.

Despite passing her test at the cost of her foot and wrist being broken, she is later killed by another test subject, Cecilia Pederson. She is therefore one of the few characters in the series to survive her test only to die shortly after similar to Halden.
